Canine Cough
Information provided courtesy of Hoochy Poochy Doggy Day-Care
For those that don’t know canine cough is a virus, similar to the ‘human cold’ that is aerosol by nature and simply a risk taken when sending your dog to a doggy daycare. The most common clinical signs include the abrupt onset of a dry, hacking cough and maybe nasal discharge. Dogs can recover with rest; however, it is important to isolate them from doggy daycare and dog parks for 14 days.
All dogs at Hoochy Poochy are up to date with vaccinations and although it will not prevent your dog from contracting the illness it does help! The team are vigilant in following up on vaccination renewals of all dogs on our data base.
At the end of every day-care session after all dogs have gone home, the facility is cleaned and then sprayed with veterinary grade disinfectant. This has no adverse side effects on people, animals, or on equipment and surfaces. It kills 99% of germs on contact. Further, we spot clean throughout the day with a commercial grade disinfectant.
If you think your dog might have the condition, you should let us know, keep them away from other animals and contact your veterinarian.
Thankyou as always for your cooperating and understanding.
